Cindy Pooch
Imbued with a rare poetic quality, Cindy Pooch’s music explores powerful themes shaped by doubt, introspection, and the possibility of rebirth. Within an aesthetic that is both expressionist and minimalist, enriched by polyphonic singing, the French-Cameroonian artist moves between emotional intensity, melodic lightness, and hybrid polyrhythms.
Her debut album In Nomine Corpus (2023), released on InFiné and produced with the support of Seb Martel — an exceptional guitarist credited on numerous landmark albums (Matthieu Chedid, Camille, Femi Kuti, Mathieu Boogaerts) — laid the foundations for a body of music shaped by meticulous sonic exploration and pure emotion.
The album, along with the live performance that grew out of it, circulated by the emerging agency Les Filles Soniques and accompanied by Mélissa Phulpin, helped introduce the artist to wider audiences. She was selected for several influential festivals (Bars en Trans, Chorus Festival, Les Inouïs du Printemps de Bourges, Babel Music XP), leading to a tour of more than 30 concerts across France, Italy, and Germany.
Over the course of these two years on the road, Cindy Pooch has grown in stature, refined her artistic voice, and drawn closer to artistic networks that are as eclectic as they are coherent. She has collaborated with poet Kyemis, theatre director Lucie Berelowitsch, comedian and stage director Martin Dust and his Cabaret de Poussière, as well as many other creators working across the arts, all driven by sincerity and commitment.
For her second album, Cindy Pooch traveled to record traditional Togolese rhythms and Cameroonian instruments, pursuing a research-based approach centered on percussion and African traditional heritage. Tracing these “roots of the future,” she writes mantra-like melodies, invocation-like texts, and songs that come together to propose a path toward new narratives, a poetry of the “we.”
This new album, whose title remains secret for now, will be released by InFiné in 2027 and will be accompanied by a new live show.
